Director/Producer

April Denée Brown is a filmmaker, feature writer, copywriter, and college instructor based in Charlotte, NC. Currently, her focus is on creating short documentaries for arts, media, and nonprofit clients through her production company, March Blake Media. She has been a regular contributor to The Charlotte Observer, Video Editor for Charlotte Viewpoint Magazine, and founder of the Buskapalooza Street Performance Festival.

As a filmmaker, April Denée has the nose for a good story, confidence to approach documentary subjects, research experience to know what questions to ask and how to get answers, organizational skills to plan and execute large-scale projects, and storytelling ability to find the most compelling narrative threads and character arcs. She holds an MA in English and a BA in Psychology.
